short range wifi???

Picture
we found a great way to get better range for your WIFI on the cheap
go to Dealextreme and look at the USB WIFI adapter sku 5858
also a better 10 dbi antenna  for this unit is directional sku 37185
this is a great unit for long rang applications and you can attach a
15 foot USB extension cable to the adapter for more mounting flexibility.
update: we tested this usb card in the field with the zd drivers its great it will automatically
connect to any open wifi without you needing to manually connect each time.

hard drive near death

Picture
sometimes to save data you can place your drive in a ziplock bag
then place  frozen bags of peas or corn around the hard drive,
this will keep it cold until you reclaim your data
sometimes you can shake a drive like a salt shaker to get it to spin-up
when the bearing is locked up and will not spin
